Tvitec acquires Cricursa for 15 million euros
The Court of Barcelona has finally awarded the curved glass manufacturer Cricursa to the glass processing company Tvitec, which will maintain around 130 jobs in its production units.
Cricursa, a world leader in the manufacture of curved glass, filed for bankruptcy at the end of last year after entering a very delicate financial situation, which affected its more than 300 employees.
Tvitec is firmly committed to relaunching Cricursa’s business in a sustainable way, with an appropriately sized workforce and assuming the economic and social commitments that will draw a horizon of gradual medium-term growth for the Catalan manufacturer in all areas. This commitment, and its profound knowledge of the sector, have played a capital role in the determination of the magistrate who supervised the contest.
In addition, during the award process, and after a consultation with the workers, 86% of Cricursa’s workforce showed their adherence to the industrial and social plan endorsed by Tvitec.
Tvitec’s offer adds up to an investment of close to 15 million euros. The company exports its high-performance glass solutions to more than 50 countries, with a large presence in the United States and Canada. Last year its turnover exceeded 150 million euros.
Tvitec, which has an ambitious investment plan underway to increase its production and launch innovative products for more than €60 million, has production facilities in the Leonese towns of Cubillos del Sil-León and Cabañas Raras, as well as in Alicante, Gran Canaria, Portugal and Brazil.
